Welcome to my musical madness! I took an extremely linear approach to this remix working from "left-to-right" without any repeats. In this fashion the music becomes a journey (part film score, part "beat"; but all random and crazy IMO). I tried to play all the parts with minimal quantization (except certain drum tracks) to give it a live quality. The most challenging part for me was the mix-down. Like a puzzle I tried to fit all the audio pieces together using compression and EQ etc., but feel like I could have done a better job. Anyhow, enjoy! :)

I have been fiddling around with Mr Gabriel's Games Without Frontiers Remix for about a year now - I have tried to work with other artists but not really had any progress after mashing and playing with the wave editor and not really gettting anywhere i found Rebirth for my iPhone - This is the first attempt at a "completed" a remix - 108 BPM for my own reasons - it still needs work on the bridge and i would like a friend to develop Mr Fripp's guitar (unless it was Mr Weller's) line i use at the end - it has also come to mind to try and get some of Stuart Hall's banter from the TV show

I´ve learned so much about music and production from all 3 of you, and this is my thank you. I produced this (I won´t say remixed, because it´s more of a production, than a remix) the way I thought perhaps Phil Collins, or Daniel Lanois would have produced it for Peter. I wanted a big production, that had life to it, and sounded like real musicians playing together in the studio. I was going for much the same feeling, and production style as songs like Sledge Hammer, Big Time from Peter´s “SO” album, and some of Phil Collin´s classic hits. I had thought about doing a modern Hip Hop version, using Autotune (ala T-Pain) on Peter´s and Kate´s vocals, or doing a Dance track, real Club Banga sort of thing, but that wouldn´t have showed the influences all 3 of these guys (Peter, Phil, and Daniel) have had on me. I´m basically writing and producing Hip Hop, Pop, R&B, Film and Video Game Soundtracks these days, and nothing like this production at all. But when I saw “Peter Gabriel Remix Contest”, it was the same for me as with the “Snoop Dogg Remix Contest”, these guys are legends, and I couldn´t pass up the opportunity to produce (even if it´s only for a contest) a song for them. So, my remixes here on Indaba are basically productions, (not remixes) because I´d much rather be producing these artists, than remixing them. Also, all of my productions will be featured on my http:www.online-mixing-and-mastering.com website as examples of my mixing, mastering, arranging, and production skills. People hire me for mixing, mastering, arranging, producing, and drumming. Not many people have hired me to do remixes. I started this remix many, many months ago and then set it aside as I began work on my very first album of original material. But as I hit a creative block on the album, I decided to go back and play with the remix some more. In finishing it, I can happily say that I broke through my creative block and am right back into full production again. So I guess I owe Mr. Gabriel a big, fat "thank you". Enjoy!

I have tried to keep the essence of the song by keeping the vocal fairly straight forward, apart from some dub echos here and there. the delivery of Peter and Kate are just stunning. so to me it was more like: "if it ain't broke don't fix it". however, arrangement wise, 96BPM was a big call for Dub/Reggae Drums. so I went for a more Dub/Electro vibe mixed with a bit of classical and craziness. anyway I hope I did this song justice. Thanks to my good friend Jimi Polar for playing some Melodica and 101 on the track!

(Sorry previous upload was only Verse 1, this is the entire remix) I kept very little of the original backing. Verse1 is more guitar based, so sounds a bit rough and rocky like an impromptu live performance.
