Up-front drum n bass mix. The monkey has had a pantsful now.
Discovered that the upload limit had changed to 4mB during the closing stages of this mix which became a challenge. After critical listening (head actually facing the speakers) to the same material encoded at different bit rates, I decided to shorten the track which made the arrangement a bit busy to my ears (probably I had just become used to the long version). However, one way of looking at this is that a 4 minute track could be a club mix but without mixing points at the start & finish. (my dubious dj skills dictate that a tune must begin with at least a minute of simple looping before I stand any chance of getting it's tempo matched). Obviously, a track destined purely for radio play is rarely going to challenge this time restriction but my track, like a lot of my creations, falls somewhere between "accepted" genres so hence my dilemma. Suddenly, just then, the upload limit changed again to a more reasonable 4.5mB so I took to drinking cold lager instead for a while. Anyway, enough of this, enjoy the track.
Technical Information
Same kit as my other mixes on this site.
On the production side, this was the first drum n bass tune of this type that I've attempted and I was surprised at how much work is involved in getting those beats to sound fat. I ended up triggering 3 snares & 2 kicks for each respective hit & duplicating their output so that one set could get treated really unfairly with turbo saturating compression & mixed in with the only slightly distressed version.

Very cool. I like the pitch shifting you did on the vocals "take any" to make it into something a little different. Nice surprise ending there
Another great mix. Some fine vox edits and programming. Best bits happen after 3 mins for me you could have done that rip back earlier.
Great effects!
Liked the levels and separation. Refreshing mix to say the least. What a rush!!! And that Rippp.Ouch
Time for a stylus change, I suppose.
Good work!
Peter
Very energetic and rich in detail. Good sound also.
Very nice. Love the spin.
Ah I was wondering where the drum n bass mix was hiding!! Quite commercial but great fun all the same, and decent production.
Well done.
ps. I gave you a hight rating but it made sod all difference! (0.10 to be presise!)
this rocks; everything is working well together; want to play "wipe out" to it .;-)
good energy, good mix.
I can't take any . . . I can't take any . . . I can't take any . . . I can't take any . . . I can't take any . . . .
rocks my balls. sweet.
nice, something different for a change.Excellent production and creative use of vocal
to be honest, I didn't like it, not my kind of sound
but my daughter (one year and a half) loved it and started dancing
I guess I must be too old for this sound!
Sqonkie, I'm glad your daughter likes the track - so do both mine. You have got me worried with the age thing though.when is one too old for Drum and Bass? I'm 43 and was hoping to continue producing & wigging out to it for at least 20 more years. I do however plan a semi-retirement doing more chilled breaks
Been at those power pills?! Fully turbo-charged V12 fuel injected teeth clenching stomper!
Reminds me of theonce upon a time "labrynth" down dalston way.aces high and all that!
Nice one! 5 stars.
er?
This is great. Another one of those really blood pumping, fast driving type mixes. It jams!
This is good stuff. Some of the distorted lower-mid range sounds remind me of instrumental tracks John Peel used to play in the 1980's. I've racked my brain but I can't remember who they were by. Those tracks were at least half this speed - it's true what they say about time passing more quickly when you get older.
great energy and really great arpeggios and different ideas.
like the breakdowns.check out my nasty dark and heavy real drums version.
good luck 2u.!

Nice mix, had the old heart racing (it's late, everyone's asleep), whew, hope the next mix on the list is a quiet one so I can come down! That was fun. Thanks.
Pretty straight dancefloor production, but solid. Been looking around for a mix like this, glad someone competent tackled it.
nice 1 al i love the synth gitty and sleazy as all goly dnb should b 4 stars and in my favs.
First, congrats on your mention. This one I'll come back to again and again. The D&B swing keeps my head nodding as it plays. And the record rip at the end, while cliche', made me laugh out loud. The rip can be, and has been, so overused and too drawn out, but this was a nice touch, and made a good exclamation point to the song. Well done!
Congratulations.
keep up the good work
Amazing
Too Bad im too late for the contest. This is eveything a re-mix should be. Would be great as a theme for the new action comic filck"The monkey Returns""
you fantastic dancehall thing, you. very good; and i dont usually go for the dancehall remix stuff at all. good one on ya.
Wow. . Cool. . love it wur can I get hold of your work??
After hearing Mr. Gabriel comment on your mix, I went back to check out your stuff - amazing work. No slacking whatsoever - 110% all the time. Congrats.
I promise to listen more closely to coming remix contests and vote on time then.
This sounds very professional and thrilling. Five stars for my favourite remix.
amazing amazing job. it's so uplifting and fun. it really makes me want to dance. and i love the "record scratch" ending! that would be the part of the night when the clubs hoppin'. everyone is on their feet getting really into it,dancing like crazy. then you end it with that abrupt ending and they all go "awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!"
I like it. I just need to find more techno/dance up-beat mixes like this. Good job.
My son (2 years) and I we love it. Powerful energy, perfect finish!!!
it really makes you want to shake your head around like a twisted firestarter
Definately the best mix I have heard so far! Can't get enough of it till I puke! Which should happen at listen number 5000 or 6000 I'd guess! Keep the jams comming.
Excellent again! I can't.can't I can' .get enough! Really neat programming!
That Larsen break at 3`20 !!!! I love it! how did you do that?
***** ! Terrific.
You got my vote . all 5 of them
Oh, man, I have gone digging for hours for remixes nowhere near as good as this. You pulled off a D&B remix without a single bit of cheese - the "I can't take any" repeat is inspired, mines a new and great hook out of the piece. I just love this. I want it. I want it now.
Whaouh great work

Well, the extra work paid off. The snare is both punchy and creamy.
