Remixer Notes
OK, here is the "long" version [2:52 min] of "when I sleep". I hope it's now long enough for your ears. ;)
+++ Sound Chateau RMX 1(long) of "Shock The Monkey") +++
This is a little song with the idea of vocal-formant-transformation to my composed melody.
My advice is: listen this song several times to accustom the new vocal-harmony. :)

- NI Battery 2

5 stars for your originality
The Theremin-Sound is wrong and not the same as in the short mix.
Unfortunately I can`t delete this upload or change the mp3-file with a correct version.
So you all must listen or vote the long version without my nice Theremin-Sound
Thanks for comments. ;)
Propaganda works fine.
So this new melodie won t leave my head for a while. Like that drumloops ( Reaktor 5 I think )?
Think you are one of the big ones in here ( not your weight , your profession I mean )
The mp3-file is now fixed.
Theremin-Sound inclusive. :)
Nice production work. Really PHAT sounding mix! I like the CP-80 line. I used to own a CP-70 many years ago.
Love it!
strange, i prefere your appetizer version. nice tune anyway
This mix is so different from the rest that I cant seem to get past this remix; keep playing over and over,,, wish the longer version was longer so I could stop hitting repeat!!
You need to be on the HOT PICK LIST for sure!!!! What is wrong with those Hot Pick pickers!!!
Are you married
OH.IM A GIRL.PHEW!!
LOL
There you go chateau give them what they want.
It's a very original mix and the little new additions to the voice are just enough to keep the interest going.
I dont know if your are French but its got a very French / Jarre feel about it. Nice
hi Sodiesarin,
thx for your nice words but no chance for me to enter the top or picklist.
The reason is the voting system:
1. unfair votes of frustration (1 star)
2. no song under 60 votes can enter the top20
So I can say: its absolutely pointless to upload a new remix here.
The system is not fair - and many people are not fair.
Sorry, but this is the truth.
@Loveshadow,
thanks!
You are one of the best producers here!
And you have to win this contest!!!
I hope so. ;)
First off, are you by chance Daniel Scholz or Robert Wässer?? Whoever you are, I really am disappointed that you didn't get your mix on here sooner. It is a TOTAL shame that more people cannot hear this. Though I WISH like heck it was longer, I guess I will have to be satisfied with this little bit of music; its better than not having it at all.
WOAH is das geil !!!!!!
WOAH is das gei.Do you mean,is that lecherous?? hmmmm.
LOL! :)
sorry its german.
thats mean "its great!"
lol. i used a German translation sight and it gave me the "lecherous"translation.Been using a lot of translation sights to understand the postings on this sight, boy the misguided translations I must be getting! well this poor guys sight is not a "message board" so I'll move on now!!Still a damn shame that this remix is not on top twenty or hot picks.
@DJUM
you have to write english.
but thanks for the nice german words. ;-)
@Sodiesarin
Who are you? ;-)
Who am I?? I am Deborah. my professional feild is in publishing, Graphic Design, Photography(Infrared). I have been a D.J for 13 years and I'm am now, because of this competition, learning Steinberg's Cubase, Groove Agent 2, HALion 3, Hypersonic, Virtual Bassist, Virtual Guitarist and Nuendo.
Sorry if all my message has occupied a lot of your site page, but your remix,(and Ive hear A LOT) intrigues me greatly. Never the less, that is who I am on a professional level. If I new how to use those programs stated above more proficiently, I would have a lot of remixes up my self. I got a lot of music and concepts dancing through my mind that I can not execute because of the lack of knowledge of these programs, never the less I figure I will be proficient in Cubase in about 6 months; too late for my submission. This is "who I am".
Wow ! it is great work really good your work with pitch voice and EQ F key
Yea!
Good work cool
Have good day
Greetings
how do I say this:
- I really like this *song*, the production(details) and all, I would give you 6 stars
- It would never come into .my. mind to touch/change Mr. Gabriels vocals(pitchshifting.). IMHO to my understanding of a "remix", I would give here 2 stars.
Summed up: 4 stars! 8)
This was not ~easy~ for me but these are my *true* feelings.
Greetings from the South of Germany!

ok wow i love ur glitch style and how u reworked harmonies this is bomb ass work going in my 10 4 sure
cheerz from geneve.
how and wot did u glitch t get this ?
b$
yes green avec envie.
Great mix. You've created a whole new feel for the song.
And have proved that software is tool, not a crutch.
5 stars.
ps i got sumthing 2morrow 4 all u cats .ur monkeys but i gotta get it sorted so.
hello!
So I've got your very nice track into my stomach.sorry,in my heart:) And after all it's not too short, I'd say! It's exactly the TOP TIMING! You in my favourites list! Just tell me what stuff mainly you use to change the voice? thanx:)
Great work! 4 stars back at you :).and an add to my favourites. A very original (and therefore interesting) take on the track which strays far from the original.
Hey, I'm really liking this.
I've always been fond of vocoders and theremins, so this was really up my alley. Really great work on the pitch-shifting and beautiful harmonies. This sounds very authentic, even with the mp3 compression. Love it!
5/5
Love the atmosphere. Good gentle roll up hill.
Good luck to you.
Thanks for the comments.
I like the change of melody and the vocal treatment which has reminded me of some sounds from the 70's but can't think which ones.
Funny story!!
When I played your mix first I opened a new window and left mine open. As I listened to yours I didn't realise mine was playing at the same time. It made a strange mix but definitely different!!
Good work.
Wonderful mix. This is lovely!
Good work sound chateau, everything sounds nice on here to me. Reminds me of Moby on one of his serious songs.
Very creative reinterpretation of the melody, and the pitch-shifting doesn't sound bad at all. Great job.
To be fair, it was realy an excellent idea and well done performed and executed.
in return **** stars but one * extra, a friendly bonus.
tnx for comments
Your mix is nicely pitched! Strange chords and nice mastering. The Vocoder is also great and the dry drums as well.
Although I prefer a higher bpm, this is a nice one.
It sounds cool and lazy. Congratulations and good luck.
hey Chateau, thanks for the comments on the club mix. I actually already commented and rated your mix a few days ago. Great job and superb sound quality. The clap and snare are PPHHAATT!
excellent idea. there are too many slapped-over instrument-addons in a lot of these submissions, but this one is a good example of re-interpreting the original.
i guess you could say i'm not a big fan of the "keep the original" crowd. its like watching the same movie with different background scenes (or worse yet, "colourized" black and white films)
wish i'd thought of the melody transposing thang; definitely gonna give that a shot
sound mix here is good as well, plus it works on a musical arrangement level (ie under 9 minutes :)
five stars
Nice Work, I like the new voice line.
five stars
Dull soppy lifeless irritatingly trite Muzak.
Dear oh dear, what a complete lack of originality and imagination you show.
Get some fire in your belly.
Cant' agree with LD. It's harder to slow down a remix and still getting the right feel.
good work!!
good work, i like it.
Like the new melody, really nice done.
This is truly an excellent and original remix in the hands of a real professional
Very nice and fat mix. Nice work on the vocals, only remix I've heard that made voice-transformation this seamless.
Interesting. Sounds like Rod Stewart singing at times.
nice work
to bad everybody couldn t get together to remix this song it would probably be amazing !
very good remix, everybody says your treatment of voice is great(and it's true).there's not too many things going on on the same time and it's easier to listen.your my favorite with multiman's.
ciao
I like the production, very well done!
Hey thanx for your comment, nice tune as well
great playing with melodyne and you're right you need to listen it several times to get used to ;-)
Thanks for your comment.
Very nice work for you too!!!!
I like the groove you used

Please LISTEN
Super! Next is the L O N G E R version, yes?
this is the most original i've heard so far (okay, i've only heard about 10). like electric pianos much?
me too. the CP80 makes me feel all warm & fuzzy. great job!
hi.
first i want to thank you for your kind comment on my remix ;)
now your remix.
this is a really great idea. as it started i thought "where did you get those vocal samples?" haha :D
really love it. i wonder what the short version was like if this is the long one :P
4 stars and a top ten rating from me ;)
keep up the great work
Hi Sound Chateau,
very nice job! Very different!
I think music doesn't go well with competition. It is a form of communication and who is gonna score that. It either works or it doesn't work. So who cares who "wins". Everyone who's taken part in this has already won and that can't be taken away by any rating. I love most mixes here and the ones I dislike I still like the love and effort put into them.
Greetings from Hamburg
Hi, I like this you have done some real great work on re-pitching P'Gs vocals and the drums are great too!
You know its a real shame the best stuff doesnt stay where itr should - AT THE TOP!!!!
Well done, great!
YES!!! I had hoped for this to make it to the Top 10!!! And also your other is on the Hot pick list. Well done Chateau, well done.
Good Luck to you!!!
Hey DJUM,
Thanks for commenting on my remix.
This is a great idea. I didn't even think of changing the melody.sounds great I was left wanting more.could have been longer, 4 STARS from me. Excellent work.
bartbee
Great original approach on making the vocal melody work with the chord progression. Super work!
I really like this one.
Your sound span decades. E Piano = 70's. Vocorder = 80's. Kick and Snare = 90's. Glitchies = Today.
The chords are timeless.
Love the Wurltizer piano(?).
You're a favorite for sure.
Really like this. On a technical level, am really impressed with how non-artificial the pitch shifting sounds. And just really like it musically. The new melody is great. Reminds me of Air's first LP, which is high praise indeed.
great work!!! i dreaming.
Nice production, but the glitches in Peters vocals drive me crazy. Nice song to chill to, very spacey, but is that jealousy I am hearing?
Really diverse, unique approach, nice work!
Don't know if I should laugh or cry but it touched me.
This is the long version? I wanted more! Give me more! Now! Please! One of ther best chill out versions I've heard. Really must buy Melodyne, I've got Auto-Tune 4, which is good, but I think you can be more creative with Melodyne if this is anything to go by. Ahh, gear envy.
I really liked it except for the solo in the middle, wasn't strong enough. A bit more glitch could be added to take it a step further, nicely done.
This is great !
Great sound, well balanced mix too.
apparently we both choose to slow down the tempo of the original (thx for giving me 4 stars).
(I hope the voting system counted 5 stars because it did something strange when I clicked on 5)
regards!
very nice atmosphere and voices
Very nice and original.
Love the rhodes line!! Nice groove!!!!
Blinding. Absolutely blinding. Wonderful. Would love to hear it developed more into a trance mix - it gets SO close and leaves me longing for it to go up-tempo!
love the new spin on the vocals
it's stuck in my head, and thats not a bad thing
it could be a little longer. but that just me.
Love it
Congratulations SC!!! Ol Doghouse thinks Pete couldn't done better than get ya in there at number two. I bet, like he says, it was agony decidin between you and Multiman. In ol Doghouse's book yor both numero uno!!! Don't forget the party tonite. I've got a big ol stiff martini (or three) waitin on ya. Ya did it!!
Greetings! you was picked in my top:) Maybe I have sense of top:):):)
Well congradulations!! Its creative melody got the man to take note. (as if he re -song it.) I will say though its not very accessable. Not sure where it will be played. Im surprised a more radio friendly mix wasn't choosen. I doubt I'll hear this mix anywhere else. With digital radio and the electro space records that are changing our landscape out there not sure how much impact this mix will have. Id choosen a mix that would have open the eyes of the younger gen to ask. who is this Peter guy? :)) Anyway. nice job.
from what I've heard is this my winner!
greetz from hamburg to berlin
Amazing.Atmospheric.Absolute favorite!
Sorry there aren't two number ones SC. But you know you are a winner, right? (out of 738 remixes is in my humble opinion this is an enormous achievement)
ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS IS WOW!! IT WAS DIFFERENT AND HAD A REALLY GREAT FEEL TO IT. I TRULY ENJOYED IT.WELL DONE!!!
I can't quite place it, but I feel I've heard this melody at least in part in another song. I was absolutely blown away by how fresh the song could sound with a new melodic treatment.
Really phenomenal.
This remix is tight ! Very very nice & creative work on voices. I guess you made Melodyne smoke heh
It is a bit to short in my taste
weird as the rest of my comments is not showing !!!
So i paste the rest :
The instrumental is a bit weak compared to the job done on the vocals. That's maybe why you won't get the Duende :P
One of my favorite remixes. Keep going .
Peace.
It's plaintive.
That gives the song a different context.
It feels more like a question than a warning, which gives it a different feeling and vibe.
One of my favourites.
Tough NY'er that I am!
very lovely to listen to. its hard to listen to so many remixes of STM and they not start to bleed together. and your mix still really got through.
Volim slusati P.Gabriela u svim verzijama.
Like listen P.G. in whatever version.
realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, realy, .ashtonishing!!!!
pity is not longer.
music was average but vocal remix was fantastic!
This is great, I like the vocals that you chose, it works real well.
congratulation on the innovative view of this great song. nice work!
I realy like it that much!
regard's from down under and back

I also think this one is good enough to sell. Great job.
Beautiful. I really like it when a song is taken in a new direction; I get so sick of the "throw some new bass and drums on [popular song] and resell it!" It's like taking a 30 year old house, putting new paint on it, and calling it new. I enjoy it when someone takes a song and rebuilds it, especially if the result is as good as this is. If I could buy this mix, I would. If I could play it online and promote it, I would.
Amazing stuff, you have a lot of talent.
Hey, SC. Is says in that slipshod article in the so-called "Bidness Week" thang that you're a dang music production house. Is that right? Hell, so is ol Doghouse. Really. I got my pm thang turned on now so ifn you'd like to check out my ol place shoot me a message. And again, congrats. Hey, you got yor dang DVD yet? Me neither.
This is now what I call a brilliant example of vocal editing.
Very very nice.
Indeed the voice sounds weird in the beginning, but a nice mood covers it up.
Afther a few listenings I have to admit, well done.
Congats on the competition
You were in my top 10.
Great mix.
Keep It coming
Lots of work I guess.Though miles away from the original it sounds fresh, interesting and different from the other mixes.
Is this still a remix, or do you use the sound of PG's voice to suit your own song? Just a philosophique question.
Exellnt! The best remix? Ive jead here!!!! My Many !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the working of Melodine doesn't spoil the sound - it still sound naturally fine and gabrielly stylish!!! I am really impressed. BY the moment I am doing afro celt in the way that goes extra far from the original. Before your comoposition I was not sure to lay down here. After your succes I'll try. I like your version better then the original (of this song)!
Well, Sound Chateau I've been remiss at not getting over here sooner but I'm here now. I admire your use of technology, particularly with the vox. I'm not sure, as they say, that the rest is my cuppa, but doubt you care now that you have received the nod that matters. For me it reminded me a little of John Lennon meeting Laurie Anderson at a seance conducted by pg. Don't ask me to explain
. Congratulations, sorry so late with the wishes.
well done! like that tune much better than the winner. but in the end it`s a question of taste.
Boring stuff.
Wow! How fragile you made PGs original somehow brute song about jealousy.
Was PGs version agry and threatening (but in fact hiding his vulnerability), you build a mood of despair and of being lost (without the person on which one is afraid to lose).
You give the song a stringent new weight without losing its original meaning.
Thumbs up and - of course I'm a bit jealous myself of not being able to interpret such material in new ways like you can.
Your version reminds me of the 'hiding behind the front door'-section of Family Snapshot.
oh yes I like that. Very good job. I m not very fan of vocoder sound in general. But, it's a subjectiv point of view. So 5 for me.
Good job.
I think this is awesome! Better than the winner. Changing a vocal melody s really risky but here it's beautifully done.
I would love a longer version with extended vocal free parts.
Lovely!
Grrrrr
Is it too late to comment on this now?
It's absolutely touching, moving, in a word: beautiful!
Better late than never!
The percussion at the beginning reminds me of "We do what we're told ( milligram's 37)"
good mix of guitar and vocals at the beginning, nice smooth transition with the techno beats

Work on the voice and the melody is interesting. We are well far from the original version.
Good work.
