very nice. lovely version.
*****
You've def done better tracks than dis that weren't H P's, so I don't reckon it's all dat hot.
However there's some very nice edits/cut-ups, also there's that reverse? guit sounding like a squeeze box? could've made more of dat.
Would've liked to hear some diff instruments, to add a bit of variation/colour, even so, def up to your usual standard, even though I still think, no, I know, you can and eventually will, do much better.
Having said all dat, I do lose interest before it finishes though, cos music is motion in time & that motion is directed towards a goal, so I reckon u just hit da crossbar, great shot though.
eazy Bisto, er, OXO, umm, OXXO?
Dear OXXO,
Very sweet. I love the counterparts you created in the beginning, which is something Daby is very great with in composing. You seemed to capture bits and pieces and embellished them just a very little but in a very tasteful way.
A very intricate detailed remix. Keeps me listening the whole way through and little subtle surprises tempo wise and your clever use of space makes this very entertaining, too.! 5/5
Your best ever here for sure!
Liked it
Cirtain FIVE! Very big FIVE!!!
very cool remix, congratulations oxxo!!!
All the best from France,
jc
Great version, full of very enjoyable details, a bit lenghty maybe. Agree to a certain level with L-Ds 3rd paragraph, but that might be caused because of my very very high expectations whenever i see your name under the Latest-menu. Haai dich good mien jong.
Good morning and thanks to everyone for all the feedback.
Early this month I wrote in the forum that I probably would not be able to fix a remix in such a short time and if so that I also would not change much on this beautiful track either. Sorry if I disappointed some of you.
I also partly agree with L-D comments about music is motion in time, it actually is… but time is moving forwards, not backwards, I’m sure there is more to come, and for that I just need simply more time, and besides that my weakness is no secret.
I really didn’t do that much on this one, ‘cos I simply didn’t want to, I just moved and changed some of the accents and added a few lines on piano, harmonium and one additional virtual acoustic guitar. And when we talk about colours, to me it is already full and rich of colours, beautiful played guitar colours, More than four different guitar riffs which you can easily mix up in any kind of combination or particular direction. You don’t get them that often and easily in one track.
For all the rest we really have to thank Daby, for his great performance skills and remarkable creative composing talent. That’s what’s making this track so special.
Have a nice day.
What I'm trying to convey is I wouldn't release it as it is.
I won't repeat myself as u know how I feel about your work as regards structure and length, there is, uderstandably, a correlation between the two.
There's only 2 rules.
The first three mins are excellent, Rule 1 well and truly executed, you've drawn the listener in.
Rule 2, maintain their enthusiasm by introducing elements that are as good or preferably better, this is where u lose me, it doesn't reach a zenith, it remains on a plateau.
Your generous appraisal of Darby humbles your own remarkable input, you've given the track something it lacks, see above.
Subtle nuances and virtuosity can and often do impinge on craftsmanship, this great site demonstrates this admirably and on both sides of the fence.
It is indeed deserving of a H Pick, but as a whole, its not that hot, compared 2 what it could/should be.
The strength of the original lies in Daby's unique voice, this is where the heart of the song beats, not the guitar, the vox is also very catchy and I reckon a chance has been missed by RWR to let some of us have a go at turning it into a hit single, because in its present form I don't think it is, time alone will tell. I believe the track has huge potential and that this potential has not been realised by the original recording. Even so, it's a wonderful prize, so there is hope that one day we'll get what we deserve. But as I have mentioned before, what do I know eh!
Nothing would please me more if you ended up on tour wiv, er, Mr Toure, so good luck in da comp u deserve/have earnt it.
For the record, I once got a review in Mixmag Update that stated, "It's alright, goes on a bit but it's alright." I could've bemoaned that it was a club track, but I immediately recognised what he was implying, the only thing that pissed me off was that it took a poxy DJ to point out this failing, I already kinda new it, but it brought it home, safe to say I've yet to make the same mistake, or at least no bod's told me so.
Peace & luv bruv.
Good morning again,
Absolutely L-D, I learn more from my mistakes as from what I do good.
Lucky you I dont upload all my remixes, I will save you all that suffering.
Neither I remix my own remixes, because there will always be something I still would like to change, even now, even tomorrow, and absolutely next week, cos I am never really satisfied or pleased with the result, there is always a different or better way and like with all there comes a time to let go, to accept, to compromise, to move on, that’s my time to upload. Besides that I like the idea having some jokers left behind in case of times something is really taking off. Otherwise it will remain a secret personal treasure on my daw-system forever, which will go down with me into my grave.
Gotta go to work now, take care my friend.
oh @ JC, no, its not my birthday yet, but a big thank you in advance to you in France.
Not compromise, no, please, never compromise.
da Vinci said: "Art is never finished, only abandoned", which of course, implies exactly what you're saying.
So, abandoned, mon ami, never ever compromise.
A big thanks for your comment. I was ever pass by here (your first comment). So I have ever give you a big five. But if I could do, I give you one more (good work).
And yes, I play the piano on my remix.
De la bonne humeur a revendre dans ce nouvel opus. Bravo OXXO !
Thank you and sorry Youyou, I did not understand a thing you are saying.
My French is even more wurse than my music.

If we trust the guys on RWR the competiton on "Setal" comes to an end soon. Let me tell you that your version ended as my personal No. 2 out of all those great tunes here. It is very, very nice to listen to! No need to say it's well executed, too.
Good to know that people like you still are here at RWR and make this place such a musical highlight.
Veel succes!
Thank you Andreas for not putting me on pole, really, a wise choice, I agree that there are more interesting options, still I am very honoured, and wished that more members inhere where that honest like you.
Besides that I am not here for any comp and busy elsewhere on April 11th.
Lets be honest, with one wooden leg, four Teeth and 2 left hands, continuously nervous und jede menge stagefever, I would not stand a change in the spotlights. ![:-]](smilies/embarrased.gif)
Still I am looking forward for his show on the 12th in Tilburg.
Take care und aufwiederschnitzel.
This sounds like a musical journey. I love the way you ease into the song - it's refreshing to hear a mix where someone takes their time like this. I hear something new with each listen so you make my final list because this relaxed me and I like to chill out!!!

Hey friend, What's up? It been a long time.
Hope you're right. Your last PM really makes me proud. Hope you will listen my Games without Frontiers's work.
Peace!
Sorry my comments are not in time for the competition, with me only recently getting onto the site, but after all, you got the result anyhow, so that's fine.
Really liked this, but agree with you that this is in no small part down to the brilliant original by Daby - not to put yours down in any way at all - I think that this "small tweaks" version is the best thing that could be done with this and is consequently a great alternative to the original.
I had downloaded the pack for this, but eventually decided not to do it, at least for the competition, because the original was so delightfully clean, simple sounding, yet, as you rightly say, with umpteen layers, and such a joy, that I really felt it would be such a shame to spoil it with a remix - certainly I felt that anything I did could only take away from it. So really well done for managing to turn out something that on one hand shone fresh light on it, whilst not taking away from the beauty of the original composition and performance.
It's been quite some source of inspiration for me that so good a result can come from such a "light touch".
Well done.
Really pleasant, And five stars more.
Greetings.
