Pack 8 - Cold Hailey Rainy Night by The Imagined Village

"We are looking for the most Imaginative and inventive re-mix of one of England's oldest stories of love, sex and betrayal: Cold Hailey Rainy Night. This song has been passed down from generation to generation through the oral tradition of folk music. We are now passing it on to you in the Imagined Village of cyber space to be re-invented by the Real World Remix community.

Pack 7 - Salala by Angelique Kidjo

"I was asked to do some singing and try a few things on a lovely track called 'Salala', they (Angelique Kidjo and her record company) are now looking for some remixes and I just thought we'd throw it out to see if any of you were interested to try your magic hands on this material" Peter Gabriel.

Pack 6 - What You Are by Joi

The mystical maestros, the Eastern-leaning experimentalists, Joi, are back and they have provided us with a sample pack from one of the key tracks from their new album, What You Are. Propelled by Western beats, lifted by celestial Indian voices and coloured by traditional Asian and Arabic instrumentation this sample pack really crosses all musical boundaries. Pack 5 - If I Had My Way by Little Axe

This is the opening track to Little Axe's second album on Real World, 'Stone Cold Ohio'. A love letter to Skip 'Little Axe' McDonald's birthplace, this album 'surf's time', fusing the gospel, blues and soul of his youth to the modern principles of Hip Hop and Dub.

Pack 4 - Shock The Monkey by Peter Gabriel

From Peter's fourth self titled album recorded between spring 1981 and summer 1982. This was one of the first tracks to use sampling technology utilizing the ground breaking Fairlight CMI and and other classic machines such as the Linn Drum and the Prophet 5 synth. You can hear these sounds throughout the sample pack.

Pack 3 - Temple Of Sound & Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali

Pack three is from 'People's Colony No 1', a collaboration between 'Temple of Sound" and 'Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali'. Music from a new world inhabited by the ecstatic voices of Sufi mysticism and a mix of contemporary dub/funk/urban beats. Brothers Rizwan and Muazzam are from a direct line of Pakistani qawwali singers, nephews of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Temple of Sound duo Neil Sparkes and Count Dubulah build tabla loops, bass and drums and together create a joyful backdrop to the soaring voices.

Pack 2 - Los De Abajo

The second pack is from Mexican heavyweights - Los De Abajo - who are the hottest export from Mexico since... well, you can guess the rest! The track - Resistencia - is a building latin / hip hop hybrid featuring some top notch vocals and piano riffs that are sure to inspire.

Pack 1 - The Afro Celt Sound System

The first is by the Afro Celt Sound System, and is a track from their fifth studio album, Anatomic. The track - My Secret Bliss - features the incomparable vocals of Iarla O Lionaird and Sevara, from Ireland and Uzbekistan respectively and is a real meeting of cultures.
